Spinning Whisky Glasses Are Back!

Our Spinning Whisky Glasses are back in stock!

This set of six lovely tumblers has become one of the hottest items in our collection this Christmas, mainly because it rather neatly solves a problem that no doubt perplexed the early cave-dwellers and has echoed down the ages ever since – WHAT TO GET THE MAN WHO HAS EVERYTHING?

It isn’t always men who are difficult to buy for, of course, but from personal experience we’ve found that someone with XY chromosomes is usually at the bottom of the worst present-buying headaches. Consider these glasses a balm for your throbbing temples, and all for well under £20. Here’s the lowdown:

  • The set includes six (yep, six!) elegant tumblers by design supremo Sagaform
  • They feel pleasantly heavy and rounded in your hand
  • Each base has a smoothly contoured point, like a spinning top
  • Give a glass a little push and it rocks very pleasingly in a circle
  • It won’t spill or splash (unless you push it really, really hard!)
  • The spinning motion is not only COOL, it releases the aromas of the whisky

Rather lovely, huh? Here’s the best part – they’re only £17.95 for the set! Yeah, we had to double check that price a couple of times too. High quality glass tumblers are often around £60 for six, and that’s for ones that don’t even spin!

The glasses come packaged in a very nice gift box, and don’t forget that we gift-wrap every purchase for free (if you come in on Saturday you’ll even get a free slice of cake!) They’re also available in our online shop right herelast posting dates for delivery in the UK before Christmas are 20th December for first class and the 22nd for special delivery.

Lots of spinning whisky glasses just arrived but they’re already flying out again. If they’d make someone in your life very happy on Christmas day, and in the meantime allow you to tick another thing off your list, be quick! We’re open every day from 10-5.30pm, and 12-4pm this Sunday.

Blue Tit Earrings – £7

These gorgeous little earrings and their friends arrived at the shop last month, but they’ve been selling so quickly that we haven’t had a chance to get them on our online shop – until now! Yes, you can purchase these handmade beauties from the comfort of your sofa, bed, sun-lounger… wherever you like to sit, basically.

Artist Layla Amber makes seriously cute jewellery from her studio in Southwold on the Suffolk coast. We’re so pleased to have her bird and tea party ranges here at Paisir! Clare nicked a pair of Swallow earrings as soon as the parcel arrived! Cue lots of tutting and “We’ll never get rich that way…” type statements from me.

Cake of the Week: Customer’s Choice!

Gorgeous, amazing cake photography courtesy of whatkatieate

As anyone who has been to Plaisir on a Saturday will know, I like baking. Cake of the Week was dreamed up in the heady days prior to us opening our little shop, as a way to do something nice for our customers whilst letting me indulge my growing passion for all things cakey (unfortunately my waistline has grown along with said passion!). Anyway, after two years it’s got to the point where I have nearly exhausted the recipes in my collection of cookbooks, and as much as I like trawling the internet for new delicious treats to bake, what I really like is getting recipes from people who have made them and who love them and can tell you why.

So I’m asking you, lovely readers, to tell me what I should bake. The last Saturday in every month is going to become…’Cake of the Week: Customer’s Choice!’. Have you got a recipe that makes your mouth water just thinking about it? Something your granny used to bake when you were little? Maybe it’s particular to the part of the country (or the world) that you come from, maybe it’s something you bake when you’ve had a really crap day and it cheers you right up again.

Whatever it is, send me the recipe and I’ll make it to give away to our lovely customers – which could include you if you happen to be in the vicinity! And if there’s a special tale attached to the recipe I’d love to include that in my blogpost about it. As a thank you, the person who donated the recipe baked each month will receive a little gift from us through the post!

Please send your cake recipes to us at hello@plaisirshop.co.uk, or alternatively if your recipe is online, link to it in the comments below. Ooh, I’m excited now!

We’re very chuffed here at Plaisir, because our new logo – designed for us by the fantastically talented Rachel Wilson – is ready for action! It’s our second birthday this weekend, and as we approached the milestone, we looked at our trusty old shop logo and decided that a change was in order. Nothing radical, just a refreshed, spruced-up version to boost us into year three. We were so pleased to be able to work with Rachel, she made the whole process easy, fun and really rather exciting! We found ourselves eagerly awaiting her emails containing revisions, and got a little thrill each time they dropped into our inbox. Needless to say, the next time we want any design work done she’ll be our first port of call. Check out some of her other design and branding work here.

So we love it, what do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
